Marbling Art Technics
It’s a kind of marbling which is made by transferring patterns becoming without stepped in dyes sprinkled to vessel. It’s a type of marbling found by departed Necmeddin Okyay as it can be understood from the name and called Necmeddin Marbling as well.Even though some artists tried to perform flower patterns in marbling vessel they couldn’t be successful till Necmeddin Okyay came out.The samples of this type of marbing made during Necmeddin Okyay time.He performed flower pattern in marbling such as tulip,violet,hyacinth,tulip bud and chrysanthemum..Floral marbled papers are made by resembling flower pattern and making patterned circled dyes with the help of stick in different sizes which are in definite greatnes by dropping little on the marbling vessel prepared with 3 different tunes of the same color.
It’s an important marbling type found by departed Sir Mehmet who was the orator of Ayasofya Mosque and so ‘orator marbling’is called his name.It was the most important reason for transferring to floral marbling as it brought different patterns in marbling and it was the first.It’s performed by making different shapes with the help of stick to circled shapes made after dropping many colors one within the other.It can be used as frame for calligraphy sides.’fortune’s wheel’orator marbling is the most known type.
TARAKLI (PECTENED) MARBLING
It’s a pectened marbling pattern made with the help of pecten after performing ebb and flow marbling.After touching pecten tines to the water it is performed vertical to ebb and flow and by not shaking your hand while pulling.If you pull pecten opposite side by sliding it, opposite pectened marbling is made.This type of marbling is used in Europe as well.
BULBUL YUVASI (NIGHTINGALE NEST) MARBLING
It’s a pattern made by shaping sprinkled dyes on the vessel with circled movements from bigger to smaller with the help of stick.Generally these circled movements are designed 5 pieces for long side and 4 pieces for short.
It’s called shawl as it looks like the shawl used in Anatolia.The pattern made by performing ebb and flow marbling first and then mixing this marbling in the vessel in circled movements with the help of stick is a shawl marbling pattern. You can get different results by sprinkling naphtha dye on it.
NAPHTA BATTAL MARBLING
It’s kind of marbling made by adding naphtha sufficiently to dye which will be sprinkled lastly in Battal marbling. Different beauty occurs as naphtha dye makes patterns like air bubbles after sprinkled.
KUMLU (SANDY) MARBLING
It’s type of marbling made by dyes sprinkled on the vessel scattering like sand. The description of sandy marbling can not be made like the others as it is neccessary for tragacanth water’ (deniz kadayıf-salep) consistency be able to make sandy dye to form sandy marbling and this consistency don’t form all the time. So it is necessary for the vessel be talented too like you are. (don’t say the vessel won’t be master)
This type of marbling found by Necmeddin Okyay is made of establishing with cut-paste method on the marbled paper by taking the inscription mould or using arabian gum of any inscription that will be put in marbling.Making inscribed marbling by taking mould is a really difficult job and requires to be patient.Cutting inscription is difficult and performing this mould is more difficult and troublesome as well.
It’s a kind of marbling which seems like a pattern on the light color and paper made by increasing dye and gall of water used in marbling.This type of marbling pattern is ideal for calligraphers to write.
This kind of marbling named somaki because of “somaki marble” stone. it has more veins between the colors than classic battal patterns. You have to press brushes more than necessary for to have this result. colors drops come down on water smaller and thats why the color lines seems like “somaki”
